*Reduced Fees for Members of the British Computer Society*
To further promote the collaboration between Psychology and Computer
Science (Informatics), we are cordially inviting your contribution to
USAB 2009 - Usability & HCI for eInclusion
5th Symposium of the Austrian Computer Society,
WG HCI&UE and WG ICT for People with Disabilities
November 9-10, 2009, University of Linz, Austria
Mission Statement: "Interfacing the Interface" for a better eInclusion!
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) pervaded many parts of
our daily lives. Due to its flexibility (multimedia connected with
multimodality) it offers a huge potential for people with disabilities
and others with functional limitations to interact with electronic
systems and services.
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is the central place to adapt the
interaction to a diverse set of user needs as well as the entry for
people with disabilities making use of standard accessibility and
usability features or using Assistive Technologies (AT) which enable the
interaction with HCI. This opens up doors to a more independent
participation in many aspects of our "digital lives".
This potential of "Interfacing the Interface" by enhanced usability and
accessibility for people with disabilities can only be exploited if HCI
takes accessibility and usability requirements into account. Guidelines,
regulations and legislations are in place asking for an according answer
from developers, designers, engineers and usability / accessibility experts.
This enhanced usability and accessibility aspects will be a focus of
USAB 2009:
- building bridges between accessibility and usability in HCI
- motivating to take the growing importance in an aging society into account
- addressing psychological as well as engineering aspects
- taking into account the strong relationship between Accessibility / AT
and HCI / Usability Engineering (UE)
- promoting those aspects for (e-)Inclusion into information society.
We ask for high quality papers, which will be reviewed by at least three
independent reviewers. Accepted contributions will be published in
Springerīs LECTURE NOTES IN COMPUTER SCIENCE(LNCS).
Topics include (but are not limited to):
. Assistive Technologies
. Design for All
. eInclusion: Accessibility, HCI & Usability
. HCI: Accessibility, Usability and Aging
. Software Accessibility
