The person appointed will contribute to the design and implementation of educational technology within the Personal Inquiry project, including the specification, build, user testing and integration of an interactive system. The system will run on wireless, handheld devices and desktops, and involve software to manage learning within and outside the classroom, to collect data and carry out experiments in the home and to allow the visualisation, sharing and presentation of data. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of system design and deployment, with duties including software specification, programming, field-testing, data analysis, report writing, system management and contributing to publications. In particular, they will work closely with counterpart research colleagues based at the OU.
Candidates should ideally have a PhD in computer science, software engineering or a relevant subject area. Evidence of publications will help demonstrate research excellence. Skills in networked software design is essential. Experience of interdisciplinary research or educational technology design will be a distinct advantage.
Salary, depending on qualifications and experience will be within the range:
. Research Associate scale: £24,152 - £26,391 per annum.
. Research Fellow scale: £27,183 - £35,469 per annum.
