As I understand it - from a BBC legal training DVD - that copyright
does extend to letters, as literary works which is 70 years from death
of the author. Which, clearly isn't going to be the case here. There
might an academic loophere though, as it does seem the BBC is being
very careful and using a strict definition of the law
