I was there and I agree that Roly gave a positive presentation and said one or two interesting things. There is clearly a lot of work to be done to get the BBC to value the role of academics in the selection and presentation of archives but I feel a great deal more confident with Roly at the helm.
It was encouraging to hear him say that the selection of archived programmes to be made publicly available might include complete series. From a research point of view that seems essential. We can't do much with 'The Best of Panorama' but we could do a lot with 'All Panoramas from the 1960s'.
Best, Hugh

Dear Paul and History of the BBC,
Thank you so much for this link. What an interesting and useful speech and Q+A session. Of course, while it is great to get this record of the event - there is the nagging and ungrateful nag that I now wish even more that I was able to be there myself! But, overwhelmingly, I am grateful, of course!
Good luck with the ongoing work of the Archivers.
Best wishes, and thanks again
Paula Knight (PhD BBC Radio Drama),
