Dear All,
Following Josephine Vonzitzewitz 'retirement' from the role of Postgraduate
Representative, I have been given the unenviable task of filling her shoes. Josephine did
a great job, and I would like to thank her for the advice and assistance she has offered
me.
I must start off with an apology for failing to send this message earlier. But in my
defence, it was events, such as the BASEES Moscow trip, that prevented me. I would also
like to let it be know that I am always open to mail, suggestions, and queries. Please feel
free to contact me.
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to send out an early warning. After last year's
success, I plan to organise a BASEES postgraduate conference this year (2009). It will be
held at the University of East Anglia on 26 November. It is early days, in regard to
planning, but it will revolve around the theme of Identity and Identity Perception -
deliberately vague in order to encourage a variety of papers, not just History or Russian
based. Despite saying that, I have managed to secure two prominate figures, Prof.
Edward Actonand Prof. Simon Dixon (provisionally), to provide the keynote and close to
events.
Please feel free to contact me with your interest (a desire to attend or present), and/or
note this event in your diaries.
I hope to be in contact soon with further information.
All the best,
Andrew
