Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Statistics
School of Community and Health Sciences, City University
We are looking for an experienced Statistician for a part-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer post for a fixed term of 17 months (0.5 fte) to help, guide and assist us with our research programme, which aims to make acute psychiatric wards safer places for patients and staff. Ours is a friendly and supportive team, with a participatory style, and open to new ideas and challenges to existing thinking.
The Department of Mental Health has a strong record of grant acquisition, peer reviewed publication, and influencing policy. We have two large datasets from psychiatric wards, and need assistance to analyse them using multilevel and structural equation modelling, and time series methods. In addition, we are collecting further data and new projects come on stream at regular intervals. We would like you to participate with us in the design of new projects and increase the statistical expertise of all of our researchers.
The post is ideally suited to applicants qualified to Masters level with experience of the application of statistics in health-related or social research and an active interest in developing quantitative research in the department of Mental Health. Although a PhD would be an asset, relevant experience is much more important. You will most likely have had experience working on several substantial research projects, in the design of those studies, data analysis, and writing up. Experience and knowledge of psychiatric services, professional care and mental health policy would be an asset.
In return, we offer a comprehensive package of in-house staff training and development, and benefits that include a final-salary pension scheme.
