Well, Doug, when it comes to any and all of the Celtic languages, I'm
strictly dumb bunny, so Desmond trumps me here. Added to which I have the
typical lowland Scots antagonism to the gaeltacht. To which you could add
that the Scots poetic tradition tends to the poeta/makar (craft?) side of
the vates/poeta divide.
So I'm about the last person to get involved in this.
Having said which, the references that Desmond just provided make it a lot
easier to get to grips with the business. I'm still digesting them and
following up some things, but will respond to Desmond further (I hope) anon.
