In this case, possibly, but if any clinician considers that their own
exposure places the judgement in doubt then they should contact the
HPA. How the exposure is described may be critical. This is hardly
unique - the outcome of medical events often depends on being able to
give both an accurate and an appropriate description, something that
our patients only sometimes understand, eg in respect of requests for
sickness certification etc.
HPS (Scotland) is no longer publishing information on numbers of
clinically presumed cases.
There must surely be a clear and contemporaneous record of the number
of courses of oseltamivir/Tamiflu being issued in Scotland.
To whom should one apply for this information, and would they issue
it in a timely manner?
