THE EDGE OF VISION exhibition sounds interesting.
Platinum prints are something I may not get to try but this sort of
printing also allows building large format cameras from the leftovers no
longer used in commercial photography such as process cameras used to
make offset printing negs. The current use of home made pin hole cameras
is also rather cute since this was my first week's assignment in art
school.
I'll attempt not to get tempted but we art photographers are like kids
let loose in a candy store now that commercial photography has gone
digital. I put together a 4x5 monorail with three lenses for around
$500. This would have been over $5,000 previous to digital. Digital,
however, is way out of my range like $20,000 just for a digital back for
a Hasselblad! Also, there is the investment in learning software, of
course. I struggle with Gimp and a flat bed scanner. Using a traditional
darkroom is also quicker then Photoshop for B&W.
