Funded PhD Studentship available from September 2009: Accelerating the 
demand for low carbon vehicles: a demand-led perspective

The Centre for Transport Research (CTR) at the University of Aberdeen invites 
applications for a full time PhD studentship to commence from September/ 
October 2009.

The proposed topic is: Accelerating the demand for low carbon vehicles: a 
demand-led perspective

The studentship will be funded by the Natural Environment Research Council 
under the auspices of the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC). The student 
will be based in Geography and Environment, School of Geosciences at the 
University of Aberdeen and supervised by Dr Jillian Anable.  Co-supervision will 
be provided by Dr Christian Brand at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), 
University of Oxford. The ECI leads the Energy Demand theme of the UKERC.

interest in transport and energy to investigate the behavioural and policy 
drivers for low carbon passenger cars in the UK. UKERC has a whole-systems, 
interdisciplinary remit and applicants should have a commitment to 
interdisciplinary research. 

Funding: Home students will receive the full annual stipend rates for full time 
students (£13,290 per year plus fees paid direct to the institution). EU 
students will receive fees only. Overseas and EU students who have spent the 
previous three years in the UK may also be eligible. Please see NERC eligibility
