In Wimpole Hall basement I have just seen displayed a set of 10
plates, decorated apparently by hand with Indian figures but English
aphorisms, in humorous style, drawn in a blue pigment & signed on the
reverse Lockwood Kipling, dated 1879 [JLK was in Lahore, Principal of
the Mayo School of Art]. The ceramics curator advised me that they
appeared to be a unique set; she had no more information. I hope to
get pictures of them from her.
I cannot see any likely mention of them from the Index to the
Journal. Does anyone know more about them or any similar, and if
anywhere described?
