An exercise:
i) Pick the poet you would rather have seen be made laureate (if there
is one). Malice may enter into your deliberations.
ii) Pick a royal event - the crowning of Charles III, for example, and
write your best approximation of that poet's attempt to rise, or sink,
to the occasion.
I probably should do Geoffrey Hill, but I'm going to need to think
about that a little.
