Surely the question is, given some x, is it possible to not have some
theory with respect to x? This would seem to be a minimum requirement
for being able to do x "without theory".
Call T(a, x) the theory that some agent a has with respect to x, and
P(a, x) the procedure through which a enacts x (the praxis of x,
according to a). It's understood - perhaps especially in poetry - that
P(a, x) is not simply a model for T(a, x) ("in theory there's no
difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is"). But
at the very least, P(a, x) is likely to include some reciprocal
engagement with T(a, x), for most a's and most x's - even if x is "fucking".
