Dear MCG'ers,
The Collections Trust is shortly to meet with the Digital Preservation Coalition to discuss the requirement in museums for skills development in the area of Digital Preservation.
So that we can get some useful work done, I would welcome any feedback from colleagues in museums on the following issues:
1. Whether Digital Preservation is identified as a priority (or at all) in your museum's forward or strategic plan.
2. Whether you or your colleagues in your museum have received training in Digital Preservation or Web Archiving.
3. Whether you are currently involved in a Digitisation programme (and if so, what your approach has been to long-term preservation and re-use)
I'd also welcome any feedback, on-list or off, about the organisational, resource or other barriers which may have prevented you from implementing a Digital Preservation Strategy (or, if you have done so, anything which might be preventing it from being fully effective).
Your responses will inform a joint strand of work with a number of sector agencies and funders this year, so I'd be really grateful if you are able to spare the time to respond.
With best regards,
Nick
