40 YEARS OF LIBRARIANSHIP EDUCATION AT ROBERT GORDON
This year marks the fortieth anniversary of the first graduations in
Librarianship from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen (then Robert Gordon
Institute of Technology). To mark this milestone, the Department of
Information Management is hosting a Friends and Alumni Reception on
Tuesday, 23rd June 2009 at Aberdeen Business School, beginning at 6.00pm
for 6.30pm. The reception will coincide with the i3 conference
(www.i3conference2009.org.uk) which is being hosted by the Department.
The event will include guest speakers as well as an exhibition about
department’s activities through the years (with many embarrassing class
photographs). Additionally, new student prizes will be inaugurated to mark the
contribution of three long-serving former members of staff, Douglas Anderson,
Michael Head and Ian Johnson. The reception will also be raising funds for
Book Aid International. Alumni are being contacted about the event but the
Department would be delighted to hear from any Robert Gordon graduates
(particularly those from the 1960s and 1970s); anyone who is interested in
attending can email the Department on [log in to unmask] Additionally,
there is a group for alumni on Facebook.
