Hello
I am concerned about the prominence and frequency with which I hear both
students and staff refer to "...searching xxx journals/database" .
Where xxx is a publisher / provider / hosting service/ platform, such as
EBSCO, or Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, rather than a named specific
database. Currently I use these terms with caution, try to work around
them with explanations, and make the individual databases the focus of
my work.
However, I have see libraries using "Search xxx" in introductory
information literacy training material. So is it now time for me to use
the terms with abandon, or should I remain cautious?
Thanks for your help
