At the University of Bolton, we are trying to purchase electronic versions of
books on reading lists, where funds permit, to circumvent the problem of
library-use only copies being stolen or illegally borrowed (yes, we do
sometimes get them back when the students have finished with them!).
Although the library catalogue displays electronic versions, we are considering
using a blank book, which would be shelved along side print copies of an item,
to alert users to the fact that the item is also available electronically. Have
any other libraries tried this method, or do you have any other means of
promoting electronic versions of texts?
