Hi
I realised that there may be some on these lists who are in Scotland or nearby and who may not already be on the McShib mailing lists, sorry if you're on the south coast of England - this may be of less interest to you!
McShib is a forum to discuss and promote the UK Federation and Shibboleth deployment throughout Scotland and we've already had some very beneficial and well attended meetings (http://www.rsc-ne-scotland.ac.uk/mcshib/) , I'm very pleased to be able to let you know that we have a venue and a date for another McShib, it will be:
May 26th
Glasgow University - Wolfson Medical Building
(many thanks to Glasgow Uni' for making this available)
(and many thanks too to the JISC RSCs (East and West Scotland) for their help in all the arrangements)
This is a crucial time for many sites as they consider whether to deploy an IdP themselves to take control of their own authentication or to continue with an outsourced provision. With the sites that haven't yet deployed particularly in mind we hope to have presentations which will include the libraries perspective on what they had to do to make the changeover, on EZProxy which we and others have found to be perfect for "filling the gap" while service providers get themselves federated and on the nuts and bolts of IdP deployment including the forthcoming Shib2 installer. There is plenty for those of us who have already deployed to discuss as well, such as the Sib 2 migration and SP deployment to federate local apps.
To book a place please email [log in to unmask], places will be limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so don't leave it to the last minute if you want to come!
We're just in the throes of finalising the programme for the day and I'll post the final version here as soon as its available
Cheers
