In Aber the situation is as follows: 'The supervisor may be invited to attend
the oral examination should the candidate agree. If in attendance, a
supervisor shall only speak at the examination if invited to do so by the Chair
of the Examining Board.'
I have been external in Liverpool with a supervisor present and it was not a
problem for me and probably very useful for the candidate as the supervisor
was able to take notes on her behalf. He took no active role in the exam of
course.
