Dear colleagues,
in his essay on Robert Walser in Logis in einem Landhaus ("Le promeneur
solitaire") W.G. Sebald quotes from a Walser piece containing a character he
refers to as Alibaba (Logis, Fischer ed., pp.144-145). Since this is a
literary essay, rather than an academic article, there are of course no
footnotes. Does anybody know of such a Walser story? I have located most of
the other references and hidden quotations, but have drawn a blank so far
on this one, so any further references to aid the search -
or possibly to prove it a wild goose chase! -would be most helpful.
many thanks
Jo
