Hi all

I am extending this invitation for a forthcoming seminar in Brussels to researchers working in European universities and research institutes, who may wish to meet, support and collaborate with European disabled people's organisations in developing new proposals for European research that is led by DPOs.

There are some places still available for academic researchers at the seminar on 16 June in Brussels and some money available to pay for travel costs.

Further details and registration request forms are available from EDF as described below. Please enquire directly to EDF.

Best wishes

Mark

Subject: FW: Invitation to a seminar in Brussels

Dear European researcher...

On behalf of the European Disability Forum, it is my pleasure to cordially extend an invitation to you to attend a dissemination seminar on the main results of the project 'EuRADE - European Research Agendas for Disability Equality' to be held on Tuesday, 16 June 2009, in Brussels, Belgium.

The dissemination seminar is being organised in response to the interest expressed in the project during the briefing seminar organised at the European Parliament, in January 2009. It will bring together representatives of organisations of persons with disabilities with key stakeholders in research including European researchers, research policy-makers, research funders, research promoters who are interested in disability research and research collaboration.

EuRADE is an FP7 funded project which has been working to build the capacity of organisations of persons with disabilities for their active and equal participation in disability research. Disability research in this context refers primarily to the creation of new knowledge about the kinds of barriers that inhibit the full participation and equality of disabled people in society, and about the kinds of strategies and solutions required for the removal of these barriers.

EuRADE has also been seeking, through consultation, to identify, articulate and disseminate the research priority needs of organisations of persons with disabilities in the hope to influence the establishment of a user-led European disability research agenda. Additionally, several organisations of persons with disabilities involved in the project have been receiving technical assistance from our academic partners in developing disability research project outlines.

In this context, the seminar will also provide an opportunity for organisations of persons with disabilities currently developing research project outlines and invited key stakeholders to share insights on how these may be developed into full research proposals in partnership with academic institutions and supported within the European Research Area and national and regional research programmes.

The project Eurade can also fund until the end of July meetings between promoters of projects and academics. If you cannot attend the seminar, but would be willing to meet our representative we can arrange a meeting the same day or the day before, or at another date.

A preliminary programme with details about the venue shall be sent shortly and made available at http://www.eurade.eu/news-events-detail.asp?pk_id_news=10 . In the meantime, those who are interested in attending the seminar are kindly invited to fill in the attached registration form and to submit it, no later than 5h June 2009, preferably by email to Sandra Tavares Moreira, Project Coordinator, at mailto:[log in to unmask]

or by fax to +32 (0) 2 2824609

Participation in the seminar is free of charge. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the European Disability Forum within the framework of the project. Participants are kindly requested to make their own travel arrangements. In such cases participants are expected to pay for all travel expenses personally and subsequently submit an expenses claim form for reimbursement. Upon request, arrangements may also be directly made through our travel agency (flight tickets only).

For detailed information about the project, please visit the EuRADE website at http://www.eurade.eu
We are looking forward to hearing from you

With kind regards,

Carlotta Besozzi
