Dear all,
There are still a few places available for our upcoming UK Conference. We would
therefore like to extend and reiterate the invitation to attend the ninth UK
CCPN meeting from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 July 2009 at the University of
Cumbria, Ambleside Campus, (formally St Martin's College, Ambleside) in the
Lake District, England. For details of the venue see:
http://www.cumbria.ac.uk/AboutUs/VisitingUs/AmblesideCampus.aspx The Conference
starts at 12 noon on day one and will finish at 2 pm on day three.
You can register at the following web page:
http://www.ccpn.ac.uk/conference/register.html
Also, the conference is being held a few days before our next CCPN Programming
Workshop. This will take place in Cambridge the following week. Details of this
will be forwarded to the list in due course.
We are planning to dedicate this years meeting to the topic of "Leads,
Speed & Shifts" with sub-topics of Pharmacological NMR including ligand
screening; NMR in practice, time saving and resolution enhancing methods;
and Chemical shifts in practice, where they come from, how to use them,
SHIFTX, DANGLE & homology assignment.
Speakers:
Bill Broadhurst, NMR Spectroscopy, University of Cambridge
Alessio Ciulli, Yale University, USA
Ben Davis, Vernalis, Cambridge
Victoria Higman, FMP Berlin, Germany & University of Bristol
Ewen Lescop Institution: ICSN-CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France
Jakob Lopez, University of Frankfurt, Germany
Rinaldo Montalvao, Crystallography & Bioinformatics, University of Cambridge
Guido Pintacuda, Ecole Normale Superieure, Lyon, France
Brian Smith, University of Glasgow, Scotland
Martin Vogtherr, AztraZeneca, UK
David Wishart, University of Alberta, Canada
Eva Lenz, AstraZeneca UK Limited
The meeting will be the ninth in a series modeled on the annual CCP4 study
weekend for X-ray Crystallography. The aims of these meetings are to present
current best practice for all aspects of macromolecular structure determination
by NMR. The meeting is particularly aimed at PhD students and PostDocs, (mainly
in the UK Biomolecular NMR community), and we have invited speakers who can
discuss in detail the pros and cons of the different approaches that they are
using. Through discussion, we hope to come up with ideas as to how future NMR
structural projects might best be tackled.
CCPN wants to encourage everyone to come and we will provide accommodation and
meals for all participants from non-profit-making organisations. We hope that
attendees will be able to find their own transport costs to the meeting.
We plan to hold three sessions of about four speakers each, with ample time for
discussion, over the course of the meeting, and will also include time for a
poster session. This year the meeting will be held at the University of Cumbria
in Ambleside, which is in the Lake District, a very attractive part of the
country. We also, therefore, plan to organize a nice walk.
There will be a registration fee of 50.00 GBP per person (25 for those
presenting a poster, which will be limited to 45 posters).
Poster size: A1 portrait (84 x 59 cms).
Registration officially closes on the 22nd May. Nevertheless, we will extend
this by one week in view of this email.
Additional accommodation is available the night before and the night
after the meeting, this will not be covered by the CCPN and is offered at
a cost of £29.00 per person per night, payable in advance. (or ?29)
For the walk you will need to bring - suitable walking boots, warm clothing,
waterproofs, sun cream, a snack, 2L bottle of water. Please note participation
in the walk is entirely at your own risk.
The CCPN (Collaborative Computing Project in NMR) is a project funded by the UK
BBSRC with the aim of establishing data formats, promoting production, sharing
and interfacing of software, and arranging meetings and seminars on best
practice, in the domain of macromolecular NMR spectroscopy. Should you have
any problems please contact [log in to unmask]
We look forward to seeing you in Ambleside.
