ARCHIVING THE ARTIST
Organised by ARLIS\UK & Ireland Art Archives Committee in partnership with
Tate
At a time when artists' archives are being increasingly valued, this study
day brings together leading artists, archivists and art historians to
explore some key issues. How should artists and archivists deal with 'all
this stuff'? How may we interpret the sketchbooks, ephemera, recordings and
other materials that artists leave behind? When may the artist's archive
become an art work itself? Speakers include: Artists Jane & Louise Wilson
and David Batchelor; Anna McNally (former Tate Archivist and Naum Gabo
cataloger); biographer Jane Stevenson; Thanasis Velios and Antony Hudek from
the John Latham Archive (Flat Time House) and Matthew Hearn from Locus+.
Venue: Tate Britain Auditorium, London, SW1P 4RG.
Date and time: Friday 12th June, 10:00am - 5.30pm
Cost: £25.00 (£15.00 concessions)
[Please note that lunch is not included in this price. However, refreshments
will be available during the day and the event will be followed by a drinks
reception to which delegates are invited]
