The Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation cordially invites you
to
attend
From Imitation to Innovation - The future of technology based
entrepreneurship
in China
4 June 2009, 15:00 -17:00
Event details:
The panel discussion on technology-based entrepreneurship in China is
organised
by the Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. It provides a
forum
for MBA students and the wider community interested in entrepreneurship
within
Oxford to discuss the exiting developments in China with practitioners who
have
first hand knowledge of the Chinese market.
Over the last decades, entrepreneurship has not only become widely accepted
but
even strongly admired in China. The rapid expansion of the Chinese economy
created many opportunities for entrepreneurs. Successful web-based companies
and also companies developing and producing leading technology have appeared
on
the scene. Many entrepreneurs dream of growing their business to expand
internationally. The most prominent example in this regard is the
acquisition
of IBM's personal computer arm by Lenovo. However, this case still remains
quite exceptional. So, will technology 'developed in China' take over the
world
markets? Or will 'made in China' remain the logo China is known for around
the
world? This panel discussion aims to better understand the role and future
of
technology-based entrepreneurship in China. It will discuss opportunities
for
setting up a successful technology-based venture in China, but also risks
and
obstacles in the way of entrepreneurs.

Dear Daniel,
The Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is going to hold a panel discussion on technology-based entrepreneurship in China on the 4th of June. We would like to spread the word about this event within the community of scholars interested in China. Would it be possible that you add the event to the events calendar of the British Inter-university China Centre? That would be a great help.
Best wishes and many thanks
Dorothea
