The Somerset Record Office exists to care for and make available Somerset's rich archival heritage. This is an exciting time to work for the service, as we prepare to move to a new purpose built Heritage Centre during 2010.
Two posts are available, which will provide training by a qualified Archivist prior to you applying for a recognised postgraduate training course.
The main responsibilities of the posts will be to work as part of a team providing advice to the public on the use of archival sources, overseeing the public searchrooms and answering questions both in person and on the telephone. There will also be opportunities to assist with the research service, cataloguing, and outreach work. You will need excellent customer care skills and a willingness to learn about the major archival sources held by the service.
The posts will include occasional Saturday morning working.
