Dear List Members,

As the Sales Agent for IEEE in the UK & Ireland we are pleased to
announce the following IEEE events scheduled for the 18th to 22nd May
2009. IEEE & Content Online Ltd would be delighted if you could join
us for these important customer events in the IEEE Calendar. The
events will highlight the content and search techniques for the IEEE
Explore platform, and showcase future developments. Please feel free
to share this invitation with your colleagues.

MESSAGE BEGINS

Following on the very successful IEEE UK User Group meetings that
were hosted by London South Bank, Strathclyde University, Salford
University and Trinity College Dublin in 2008, Content Online and IEEE
will be sponsoring 5 in depth training sessions in May 2009. The
events coincide with the 125th Anniversary of IEEE and as such will
share the 125th Anniversary theme.

You are cordially invited to one of the 5 events listed below, the
sessions will be exactly alike, plan to attend only one.

  You are invited to join IEEE for a free 2 hour program on Tips and
Tricks entitled "Overview of IEEE Xplore and Tips for Targeted
Searching"

Information Professionals, both academic and commercial are invited to
attend this session to learn time-saving search techniques
for finding technology content using IEEE Xplore, the online delivery
platform for IEEE products. During this live demonstration, presented by
IEEE Client Services Manager Ruth Wolfish, participants will learn :

      -Advanced search features such as field searching, wildcards and
proximity searching
      -Search by author affiliation or country
      -Browsing for specific journals, conference papers or IEEE
Standards
      -Creating email and RSS alerts
      -Understanding the Abstract Record
      -Alternatives to Google and GoogleScholar such as CrossRef
Google and scitopia.org
      -New features that are planned for 2008 and beyond

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Information professionals who oversee IEEE Xplore or who answer their
users’ questions on how to efficiently find IEEE
content should attend. This is a meeting for librarians who are familiar
with IEEE Xplore and who would like to have input on future development.

      -Enhance your understanding of IEEE and IEEE Xplore;
      -Exchange ideas about productively using IEEE Xplore;
      -Learn of proposed IEEE features and services;
      -Have more influence over the direction of IEEE features and
services;

INFORMATION ON THE PRESENTER
Ruth Wolfish, IEEE Client Services Manager, provides training for IEEE
online products, distributes informational
materials to drive usage, answers all usage questions, and performs
both on-site and internet conference training.
She works with all of IEEE's academic, government and corporate
accounts. Ms. Wolfish came to IEEE in 2001 from
Lucent Technologies. Her 18-year career with Lucent and its
predecessor companies included roles as BellLabs
Reference Librarian, management trainer and administrator of
education, information specialist for business systems,
and electronic content coordinator for Lucent's Digital Library.
