Hi All , We would send a first aider with the casualty and also a driver .
The logic behind this being that we are over an hours drive from our
nearest casualty . This journey for someone who is in pain or ill or
anxious about their condition ,even if this is a minor condition could be
dangerous as it is likely they will find concentrating on the drive
tricky!!
Many of our staff are not local to the area so will find the journey to
casualty more of a problem
FAW escorting are not expected to act outside do there remit of FAW and
would not carry any equipment but are there to offer support , help
casualty in and out of vehicle, summon help if needed and liaise with site
to arrange contacting relatives or any further assistance that may be
necessary .
We find that the knowledge that this support is available leads to
heightened confidence from all staff in first aid provision.
Anita
