Please note that starting with Wed 8 Apr 2009 (11am UK time) you will be
able to submit jobs only via lcgwms03.gridpp.rl.ac.uk at RAL Tier1 (see
the message below). Jobs submitted by that deadline will be allowed to
terminate and be retrieved until Tue 14 Apr (10am UK time).

Subject: lcgwms02 scheduled downtime - 8 Apr 2009 10:00 UTC
A reconfiguration operation is scheduled for lcgwms02.gridpp.rl.ac.uk
(glite-WMS) at RAL-LCG2 as it follows:
- Wed 8 Apr 2009 10:00 UTC (11am UK time) - host entering 'drain' mode:
no more job submissions allowed, existing jobs will be permitted to
finish, output retrievals also allowed
- Tue 14 Apr 2009 09:00 UTC (10am UK time) - server taken off line for
reconfiguration, followed by tests
- Thu 16 Apr 2009 16:00 UTC (5pm UK time) - server back into production
as LHC-only WMS (i.e. accepting only alice, atlas, cms, lhcb, dteam and
ops job submissions)
Starting with the end of the downtime, the non-LHC VO users will be able
to submit jobs only via lcgwms03.gridpp.rl.ac.uk server. The LHC VO
users will continue to be able to use both lcgwms01.gridpp.rl.ac.uk and
lcgwms02.gridpp.rl.ac.uk servers. The latter are strongly recommended to
load balance the two WMS servers at RAL by using some appropriate
configuration at submission mechanism level.
Please consult
https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/RAL_Tier1_Workload_Management_WMS#Local_De
ployment_Information for more details.
Please note that LHC VO users already using a load-balanced method of
job submission should not be affected by this reconfiguration operation.
Best regards,
