For what its worth I know of only two optical/ir instruments that
DO such transformations in ORAC-DR. IRIS2 and ISAAC. I'm guessing few
people have been reducing ISAAC data in ORAC-DR recently!
And I don't think many people have been reducing IRIS2 data with the
newest
versions that produce the automatic conversion either.
In general astrometric distortions are ignored in most instruments.
Its only because I'm a very anal Instrument Scientist and astrometrist
myself, that they got implemented in IRIS2 at all!

My guess is that the simplest solution will be to use text files for
ATOOLS
that don't use .txt as an extension.
