The National Research Council of Canada's Herzberg Institute of
Astrophysics (NRC-HIA) has an opening for a Research Associate working
with the Millimetre Astronomy Group (MAG) for the James Clerk Maxwell
Telescope (JCMT). The position is to be based at the Joint Astronomy
Centre in Hilo, HI, USA.
The Research Associateship is for a maximum of three years; the initial
appointment of two years may be extended for one further year (subject
to performance and availability of funds). The successful candidate
will carry out a program of high-caliber astronomical research, which
includes use of the SCUBA-2 sub-millimetre camera at the Joint Astronomy
Centre.
The Research Associateship is offered to an outstanding recent doctoral
graduate in astronomy/astrophysics. Applicants must have acquired their
PhD within the last five years or expect to obtain the degree before
starting the Associateship in 2009. Application should be made by 17

includes the use of the SCUBA-2 sub-mm camera, along with your cv, cover
letter, publication list, and at least two letters of reference. For
