Techniquest is a leading science discovery centre with a world-wide
reputation for excellence and innovation. We are a registered educational
charity reaching +350,000 people per year in Wales. Our turnover is in
excess of £3m per year and we are part-funded by the Welsh Assembly
Government.

Techniquest is a joint sponsor in a £47m new initiative for young people in
Wales, called Reach the Heights, which is funded by the European Social Fund
(ESF) with match funding from the Welsh Assembly Government and associated
sponsors. As part of this scheme, Techniquest will be developing and
delivering STEM programmes through seven regional Hubs in the convergence
areas across Wales for 11 19 year olds to improve their career
opportunities. We are seeking a Project Manager, a Programmes Manager, an
Administration Assistant, a Presenter, Trainer, Evaluator and a Finance
Assistant to work on the scheme.

Project Manager
Three-year fixed term
circa £33k
We are inviting applications from an exceptional individual to fill this key
role in the scheme. Your main focus will be managing all aspects of
Techniquest¹s part of Reach the Heights, developing and managing
relationships with delivery partners, and overseeing developmental work, the
delivery of the scheme through the seven Hubs and the reporting to funders.
You will have project management experience, excellent communication skills
and experience of managing ESF/ERDF projects. Knowledge of the education
system in Wales would be an advantage. The successful candidate will travel
extensively around Wales.

Programme Manager
Three-year fixed term
circa £28k
We are seeking a talented individual to work within our creative team to
manage and contribute to the successful delivery of new projects. This
includes the development of educational programmes, digital media, exhibits
and other media, ensuring that these are delivered on time, on-budget and
meet the high standards associated with Techniquest.

The successful candidate will source, engage and build relationships with
business, academia and government representatives in Wales to ensure
Techniquest remains at the cutting edge of science education delivery. S/he
will have a good understanding of teaching and the needs of formal
education, the ability to work with team members, partners, contractors and
consultants, and excellent organisational, communication, decision making
and negotiating skills.

Finance Administrator
Three-year fixed term
circa £18k
The Finance Administrator role is an exciting and challenging opportunity
within Techniquest¹s finance department. Duties will include elements of
purchase ledger, general ledger and timesheet management. The suitable
candidate will have a flexible approach to work, be highly motivated and
have experience of working in a busy office. As this is a European grant
funded project experience of administrating grant claims would be desirable.
Initially you will travel throughout Wales on a regular basis.

Administration Assistant (systems)
Three year fixed term
circa £17k
We are seeking a highly organised individual to assist the Project Manager
in all aspects of his/her role. You will have a proven track record in the
full range of administrative duties including experience of using
spreadsheets, minute-taking and typing. You will have excellent
communication skills. The role will include some travel around Wales.

Presenter, Trainer, Evaluator
Three year fixed term
circa £20k

This role works at the front line of Techniquest¹s services, helping to
ensure that staff are properly prepared to present educational shows,
workshops and guided activities to our audiences to the highest standards.
The work requires gaining a familiarity with the formats and resources used,
and applying this to the training of presenter staff in Cardiff and at other
locations Wales wide. The suitable candidate will also be involved in
evaluation, both for quality control and to assist in support the
development of new programmes.

Experience of presenting and an ability to convey techniques that excite and
motivate audiences is essential. A science background would be desirable.

The closing date for all five posts is Monday 20 April 2009. For more
