Research Councils UK (RCUK) is the strategic partnership of the UK's seven
Research Councils.
Each year the Research Councils invest around £2.8 billion in research
covering the full spectrum of academic disciplines from the medical and
biological sciences to astronomy, physics, chemistry and engineering, social
sciences, economics, environmental sciences and the arts and humanities.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Communications to join the
RCUK Strategy Unit.
Reporting directly to the Head of the Strategy Unit in this newly created role,
your main emphasis will be to develop, co-ordinate and manage the external
communications programme for Research Councils UK.
Operating in a dynamic environment, you will work alongside colleagues from
the Research Councils, the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills
(DIUS) and other external stakeholders to help increase the collective visibility
and influence of the Research Councils.
This is a high profile role with significant responsibility and senior management
exposure.
To be considered for this position you will need to be a confident and highly
influential leader, with proven experience successfully designing and delivering
a range of complex communications initiatives. Experienced in managing
teams and budgets, you will possess outstanding interpersonal skills, a flexible
nature and the drive to deliver a premium service. It is essential that you
have an understanding of the Research Councils and the current initiatives
and issues being faced within this sector.
