Well, Doug - I am not a believing Christian, though I think there's a good
deal to be said for Christ's moral observations & precepts, but I don't
think prayer can quite be reduced to a selfish wish in that way from a
theological viewpoint. Bierce may have had a point if we only consider
certain forms of American Xtianity that stress the GetrichquickwithJesus
factor.
