I also note from amazon.com that Robert Graves' translation/retelling
of The Iliad, which was long out of print, has just been reissued in
paperback by Penguin. It's quite entertaining, though as a
translation it may be one of those that are most interesting to people
who can also read the original. It's clearly colored by Graves'
believe, which he sets forth in The Greek Myths, that The Iliad is a
satire on Homer's Mycenean patrons.
