Hello all
I have received referrals for a number of dental hygienists over the last year
with upper limb and neck disorders, and low back pain. Anecdotally many
more are complaining of the same thing without being referred. There is not a
corresponding increase in dentists reporting such problems. The hygieneists
tell me that the nature of the work they do requires them to adopt and hold
their working posture for longer than most dentists need to, due to the type
of intervention they are performing. Apart from ensuring that their seating is
adequate (i.e. individual Bambach seating) I am at a bit of a loss.
Has anyone had experience of this? Suggestions/advice would be much
appreciated.
If anyone could point me in the direction of any research done in this area I
would be most grateful.
Many thanks,
Jo
