PhD Thesis
The Quantum Chemistry Laboratory at the Institut de Chimie, Université
de Strasbourg has an opening for a PhD position on the general topic
"Quantum mechanical studies of magnetic and dynamical properties of
molecules containing heavy elements". The detail work may concern any of
the following: ab initio determination of structural criteria
controlling the stability of single molecular magnets; the accurate
calculation of the electronic and vibrational structure at a very high
level of electronic correlation including relativistic effects; the
simulation and control of the time dependent quantum dynamics underlying
the elementary kinetics.
This thesis in theoretical chemistry is addressed to students having a
solid background in quantum mechanics and physical chemistry. Ideally,
the candidate must have obtained a Master degree in 2009 in Chemistry,
specialization Physical-Chemistry, or in Physics, specialization
Theoretical Physics, and should not be older than 30.
Work starts in September 2009 and has a duration of 3 years.
Interested students should contact urgently Dr Chantal Daniel
([log in to unmask]), or have a look at
http://quantique.u-strasbg.fr.
Application deadline is April 24, 2009 (electronic application on the
web site of CNRS, https://www2.cnrs.fr/DRH/doctorants-09/, offer number
32).
