Lecturer in History of Medicine (Fixed-term, Full-time)
£29,704 - £30,594 per annum

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree and provide high quality teaching in History of Medicine, including ethical issues in medicine up to the present, for an interdisciplinary range of students at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level. He or she will be expected to undertake and publish original research, to contribute to the research activities in history of medicine and carry out administrative duties.
This fixed-term, full-time lectureship arises from a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award and is tenable for one year from 1 October 2009. In addition to the criteria specified above, the successful applicant will also contribute to the lively research culture of the Department, which has particular strengths in History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, and the Centre for the History of Medicine and Disease (www.dur.ac.uk/chmd). Teaching experience and publications in history of medicine are desirable.
