*PHD FELLOWSHIP IN CHEMISTRY EDUCATION/HISTORY OF CHEMISTRY*

The Department of Chemistry, Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim announces a vacant PhD fellowship in
chemistry education/history of chemistry.

The fellowship is offered for a period of four years. The person
appointed to the post will have teaching duties corresponding to ¼ of a
full time post, e.g. laboratory instruction in elementary chemistry
courses.

The PhD fellowship is within the history of chemistry, preferably on
19th or 20th century chemistry. Successful candidates will be enrolled
in the PhD programme in Science Education, which includes studies in the
history of science. The position is organized at Department of
Chemistry. Further information is available at
http://www.ntnu.no/kjemi/english

We seek highly motivated candidates preferably holding a M.Sc. or
equivalent in chemistry or related areas with an average grade of A or B
within a scale of A-E for passing grades (A best). Promising candidates
about to finish their master theses are eligible to apply as well.
Information on time of completion should be enclosed the application.
Prior experience in the history of chemistry will be considered an
advantage. Applicants who are not native speakers of English or of a
Scandinavian language must have a good command of spoken and written
English.

The appointed fellow must agree to the conditions laid down for public
employees.
Successful candidates are offered a start gross annual pay of NOK 353
000 a year (Norwegian state salary code 1017, level 45) - corresponding
to approximately 41000 Euros for the duration of four years. 2 % of the
salary will be deducted at source as an obligatory premium to the
Norwegian State Pension Fund.

The appointment of a PhD fellow will be made according to Norwegian
guidelines for universities and university colleges. Applicants are
obliged to engage on an organized PhD training programme, and
appointment requires approval of the applicant’s plan for a Ph.D. study.
Their M.Sc. results are thus expected to qualify for acceptance as a PhD
student at NTNU. The successful candidate and the University must sign a
mutual contract regarding the period of appointment and the obligations
of the PhD fellow.

Candidates from universities outside Norway are kindly requested to send
a Diploma Supplement or a similar document, which describes in detail
the study and grade system and the rights for further studies associated
with the obtained degree:
http://ec.europa.eu/education/policies/rec_qual/recognition/diploma_en.html

The application must contain information on previous education, exams,
and professional experience.
*
Applications with project outline, CV, certified copies of transcripts
and reference letters should be submitted electronically via
www.jobbnorge.no. The position’s reference number is: NT - 32/09. See
*https://secure.jobbnorge.no/visstilling2.aspx?stillid=57637
We prefer the attachments in *one single file*.

Publications and other scientific reports that the applicant would like
the University to consider, must be scanned and submitted electronically
along with the other attachments. Having produced such publications is,
however, not a requirement for the PhD position. Joint papers will be
considered, but in these cases the candiate should account for her or
his contribution. Names and contact details of two referees should also
be given.

* Application deadline: 22 May, 2009

*Please contact Annette Lykknes ([log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) if you have further questions.
