Lecturer/Associate Professor in Media Studies

Applications are invited for the above post in the Division of
International Communications based at the University of Nottingham
Ningbo, China. The Division is one of the founding academic divisions
at UNNC and the degrees delivered run parallel to those offered in the
School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of
Nottingham in the UK. The post represents an exciting and unique
opportunity for a candidate with proven teaching and research ability
in the area of media studies. In additional to teaching and research
the successful candidate will also be expected to undertake
administrative duties related to quality assurance and curriculum
development. Candidates appointed at Associate Professor level will
not only be expected to undertake original research of their own, but
also to provide significant leadership with regard to research within
the University.
Candidates for appointment at Lecturer level must have a PhD (or be
close to completion) in a relevant discipline, the ability to produce
high quality research and experience of teaching in relevant subjects
at degree level in an international English-speaking institution.
Candidates for appointment at Associate Professor level will have
completed a PhD. They should also have a proven record of attracting
research funding and/or leading research projects together with a
recent track record of publishing in peer reviewed journals.
Salary, depending on qualifications and experience, will be within the range:
Lecturer Scale: £32,458 - £43,622 per annum (Salary can progress to
£50,569 per annum, subject to performance).
Associate Professor Scale: £46,278 - £55,259 per annum (salary can
progress to £65,965 per annum, subject to performance).
The post will be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University
of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of five years with effect
from 1 September 2009, with the possibility of renewal.
