Dear Fiona

I'm very sorry that I wont be able to come up on Wednesday. Two days Thurs and Fri are already more time than I can spare. I would very much have liked to meet your group.

It would be good if there were some discussion in this forum here. If they all subscribe to the list, and go back to the introductory messages in July 2007, there are a number of issues set out in my messages, any of which could be starting points for discussion.

While there has been desultory activity in the list, and there are still a good number of members, and I see a lot of benefit if we included the insights your group could bring.

Best wishes
Anita

	Dear all

Looking forward to this week's Association for Education and Ageing conference at Lancaster Uni and the pre-conference day of lectures and discussion sessions for older people. The programmes look fab http://www.lancs.ac.uk/depts/conted/University%20of%20Later%20Life%20flyer.pdf and http://www.cpa.org.uk/aea/AEA_lancaster_conference_program_and_booking.pdf (in addition to the main sessions there are 15 fascinating-looking papers - several are parallel sessions and I can't choose which to attend for ANY of them. Enrolments are still being taken despite the deadlines on the forms. The pre-conference day is free..... call 01524 592623 to enrol.

"My" group of Lancaster Uni Senior Learners will be taking part in this event as stewards and also 'discussants'. This term they have been attending University undergrad lectures and meeting weekly to discuss their learning experiences. A small group has also been looking at the Benefits of Learning for older people and doing some reading, and next term we plan to invite academics from around the University to come and give us their take on older people (medical/ psychological/literature/philosophical/sociological etc). They would like to start a discussion about these issues with a wider group. Are you (members of this forum) happy for that to happen in this forum? OR - Is there anywhere else where this virtual discussion is already taking place that they can all join?

best wishes and thanks in advance
