Dear Stella:
Last year I worked with some of the Modern Languages Lecturers at LSE and created three websites as part of the EXPLICS project (see address and info below).
This one in particular is a global simulation (English Language), but you can find different examples on the site.
http://www.zess.uni-goettingen.de/explics/Explics_UK/Index.html
EXPLICS web site:
http://www.zess.uni-goettingen.de/explics/
The materials are free to use and you will find more information on the site regarding this.
..."Our project partners have provided the following case studies and simulation templates. Please find them labelled with language and level. You may use all products for language teaching and learning either at institutions or private. All commercial activities are prohibited. All rights belong to EXPLICS and the authors."...
I hope it helps.
Regards,
Elena

Subject: [M25-LT-GROUP] Learning Technology for English and Drama
Dear all,
Relevant to the latest M25 LT meeting on staff development, I have a favour
to ask.
I'm currently designing a workshop on 'exciting things to do with the VLE'
for academics in our School of English and Drama. I've decided to focus on:
* text/voice discussions (synchronous and asynchronous)
* quizzes (MCQs, true/false questions etc)
* podcasting
And will concentrate on types of activities that lend themselves to blended
learning and promote skills they should be interested in - communication,
academic writing, critical thinking etc...
So, I was wondering whether any of you have examples of activities using
these (or other) tools in your various English / Drama departments that you
would be willing to share. I have some good examples from within our
institution, but people are always more interested in seeing what their
colleagues at other universities are doing, than those in say, Geography.
Many thanks in advance,
Stella
