I'm old enough to remember when public library books bore a label stating that, if any of certain communicable diseases (which included influenza) were present in the household, the Librarian was to be informed immediately. Perhaps it's an idea whose time has come again...

Subject: Library pandemic plans
Dear colleagues
Have any other higher education institution libraries formulated plans
for dealing with a pandemic outbreak? Our University has established an
Influenza Pandemic Management Team to ensure that the institution is
fully prepared , but I wonder if anybody has any particular plans for
their libraries?
I imagine this is something we are all having to think about just now,
so I will summarise any responses for the list.
Many thanks in advance.
