NanoteC09
Nanotechnology in Carbon and Related Materials
SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
www.britishcarbon.org/nanotec
We are pleased to announce NanoteC09 at Hotel ‘Le Plaza’ in Brussels
from 26-29th August 2009.
NanoteC09 is designed to introduce those with an interest in materials
to current research in nanotechnology and to bring together research
scientists working in various disciplines in the broad area of carbon
science at the nanoscale: nanotubes, fullerenes, nanohorns, graphene,
nanowires, sp3 forms, etc. While each of these materials attracts its
own dedicated community of researchers, NanoteC09 draws on common
themes and allows researchers to share insight into this unique
element at the nanoscale. NanoteC09 also provides a platform to
explore wider issues in nanoscience such as toxicology and science
communication. At Brussels we will have a session and debate devoted
to science policy and diversity, with keynote speakers from the world
of science politics.
The NanoteC conferences are renowned for their relaxed and friendly
atmosphere, with emphasis on discussion and participation. We endeavor
to achieve as much student participation as possible, and we
anticipate that the keynote talks will be strongly influential on the
next generation of nanotechnology scientists.
Invited speakers include:
Millie Dresselhaus, MIT, Boston
"Developments in optical spectroscopy of carbon nanomaterials"
Alan Windle, Cambridge, UK
Kazu Suenaga, AIST, Tsukuba, Japan
"Defects in low-dimensional carbon"
Alex Savchenko, Exeter, UK
"Transport studies of graphene"
Junji Haruyama, Tokyo University
"Superconductivity in boron-doped carbon nanotubes"
Martine Mayne, CEA Saclay, France
"Nanoscale carbon composites: fundamentals and applications”
Gotthard Seifert, Dresden, Germany
"Theoretical modelling of carbon nanostructures"
Carla Bittencourt, Mons, Belgium
"Reactivity of carbon nanotubes"
Bojan Boskovic, Nanocyl, Belgium
"Engineering and production of carbon nanotubes"
The conference will start at lunchtime on Wednesday 26th August and go
on to the afternoon of Saturday 29th August 2009.
Abstract, registration and accommodation forms are available on the
NanoteC09 website at
www.britishcarbon.org/nanotec
