Dear Colleagues,
This is an invitation for those of you coming to the BSA Conference in
Cardiff this month. As you know, the official conference dinner is on the
evening of Friday 17th April, but if, like us, you prefer to enjoy
sociological socialising without simultaneously supporting animal
exploitation, please join us for an evening of fine vegan food and drink at
the Canteen on Clifton Street, Cardiff, on the evening of Thursday 16th
April from 7pm.
The evening will also mark the first anniversary of the launch of
www.vegatopia.org - dedicated to the promotion of veganism and animal
liberation through academic research and teaching, and to linking academics
with activists in these fields. We hope that the evening will also be a
good opportunity for veg*n sociologists to socialise and share ideas about
raising the profile of veg/AR issues in sociology.
The Canteen was recently nominated for the Vegetarian Society's best
independent restaurant award, and is reasonably priced at £11.50 for two
courses or £13.50 for three. The entire wine list is also suitable for
vegans. For more information, see: http://canteenoncliftonstreet.com/
Please note that although meat and dairy products are sometimes featured on
the Canteen menu, we're sticking to the fabulous vegan menu for this event.
If you're interested in coming along, please contact me at
[log in to unmask] as soon as possible.
Please feel free to forward this message to other lists/individuals who may
also be interested. Partners and friends are more than welcome.
Best wishes,
Matthew, Karen & Kate
