The department of Human Geography and Planning wishes to appoint an
assistant professor whose interest is to strengthen the urban research
and education programme in the area of the _Geographies of Mobilities_.
The appointee will cover teaching in the field of urban geography and
geography of mobilities and pursue an independent but complementary to
existing members of staff research agenda.

Requirements*_
_
Applicants should have a PhD in Geography or relevant cognate discipline
(or be very near completion), with experience in attracting research
funding, conducting scientific research leading to high-quality
publications and preferably in teaching and supervising students at the
undergraduate and graduate level. She/he shows enthusiasm for teaching
and has excellent ideas for research and communicates easily in English,
both verbally and orally.

Terms of Employment*
We offer a full-time position, initially for two years, which, after a
positive evaluation will be converted into a permanent position. The
post is available from 1 June 2009. The gross salary depends on
qualifications and experiences (minimum: € 3,195.- and maximum €
4,374.-) and is according to the Collective Employment Agreement of the
Dutch Universities.
The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year
bonus of 8.3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme,
partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions in which
you may trade salary for vacation days or vice versa. Conditions are
based on the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
