Hello,
I've added support for importing Varian processed data in Analysis, and
those of you who regularly update 2.0.7 might notice this in the Open
Spectra dialog.
Unfortunately there were a few minor changes required in the C world
(because Varian data has headers for each block, not just a single global
header). Because there are pre-compiled releases out there (including all
the Windows ones) it is best if we don't add C source code files to the
update server any more. So although the Varian option looks like it might
be working, it is not working as the code on the update server stands.
This will be in the next release, though. And anyone who wants to try it
out now can email me and I'll send you the relevant C files. And note,
if you have a pre-compiled Linux/OSX release then re-compiling might work
on your machine, it depends on whether you have the relevant header files
installed.
Also, it's quite possible there are still problems with reading Varian
data (I only had a couple of data sets to try this out on). But if you
have examples where it fails then we should be able to sort it out.
Finally, Varian data, like NmrPipe data, is not very blocked, so for >= 3D
data I'd probably recommend that you convert it first (e.g. using
vnmr2ucsf which you get with Sparky, although as it happens that didn't
work with the 2D data set I had).
