PhD Studentships 2009
Learning Sciences Research Institute, University of Nottingham
Research at the Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI) explores the fundamental processes and practices of learning, and how to design new technologies to enhance human learning and interaction. Applications are invited for the following PhD studentships;
Design and Evaluation of Mixed Reality Technology for Second Language Learning
The LSRI and the Mixed Reality Lab (www.mrl.nott.ac.uk) are jointly offering this EPSRC Industrial CASE studentship with Sharp Laboratories of Europe (Ltd). For eligible students the studentship will provide full university fees and a maintenance grant, depending on qualifications and experience, and in accordance with EPSRC guidelines.
Eligibility for Industrial CASE studentships:
CASE studentships are available to Home and EU students, according to fee status, that meet Research Council eligibility requirements based on residency and nationality (EU students must demonstrate a relevant connection with the UK). Further details regarding eligibility can be found on EPSRC's web pages http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/PostgraduateTraining/StudentEligibility.html.The University's Admissions Office can also provide further guidance on fee status.
Cognitive Tutoring for Hearing Remediation
The LSRI is offering this studentship for 2009 jointly with the National Biomedical Research Unit in Hearing (http://hearing.nihr.ac.uk/). Studentships in this area will address how computer technology for auditory training or cognitive tutoring can be designed to help people overcome hearing problems.
