=== Virtual exhibition „BAROQUE IMAGE-EYTHELKEIT“ ===
Under the title „Baroque Image-Eythelkei“ the current virtual exhibition
of the Department for Image Science presents more than 200 prints
from the Goettweig Monastery's Graphic Collection. Hardly a language may
explain the term “Eythelkeit”, the central subject of the baroque period
better than the art of the 17th and 18th century. Their allegories and their
personifications in histrionic-fancifull pomp costumes and finery tell
about vanitas, transcience, lapse and nullity but also about pretentious
pride and arrogance, imagination and behaviour.
Top-class examples from the Goettweig Collection give an insight into
the world of allegory, personification and symbol.
