SRA/Academy of Social Sciences Conference
Ethics in social science: regulation, review or scrutiny?
May 11th 2009 10am - 4pm

This conference will examine how the current and developing system of
reviewing /scrutinising/regulating social science research projects is
working and how it might best be developed in the future. It is relevant
to people across the social science community involved in the process of
`reviewing' the ethics of particular research projects or with
experience of submitting or supervising proposals for review. The day is
in two parts, the morning on the policy aspects and the overall system
and the afternoon on aspects of practice, with time for discussion and
exchange of views.

* John Oates, The Open University/AREC/BPS

* Social science research and the NHS RECs - current issues.
* Social care - current plans and their implications.
* University Research Ethics Committees - how they are working.
* Developing ethical awareness and engagement among researchers
