At Edinburgh we are gradually building up lists of publishers who do or don't allow ILLs. We always check both lists, and where possible investigate others who don't appear on either . However we don't always have the time to do so. We are about to implement an Electronic Resources Management System which will make this much easier (once the licenses have been entered on to the system!)

At Glasgow we check each license to see if we are permitted to supply items from ejournals. We generally find in most cases that it is ok.

Subject: Electronic journals - ILL rejections?
Dear colleagues
In preparation for a presentation to be given in May, I would like to ask how many of you automatically reject requests for documents in electronic resources? Please send replies to me direct and I will provide a summary of responses (maintaining anonymity!)
If you are willing to let me know how you handle requests for such documents I would be grateful. I think this is an issue that may have a major impact on document delivery as more and more of our resources move to electronic subscriptions.
Automatic rejection
Individual Licences checked in each case Supplied when subscription is known to be covered by JISC licence Any other variation of response
Your participation would be very much appreciated
Hope you all have a good break over the Easter weekend.
Many thanks for your help with this.
